Title: Exploration of Evolutionary Algorithms for Multi-Objective Robust Optimization

Uncertainty is an important feature abstracted from real-world applications. Multi-objective optimization problems with uncertainty can always be characterized as robust multi-objective optimization problems. Over recent years, evolutionary algorithms have been successfully applied to various multi-objective optimization problems. However, most of them do not consider disturbance in the design. In this talk, aiming at overcoming the difficulties from robust multi-objective optimization problems, by fully exploring characteristics of evolutionary algorithms, i.e., population-based, nature selection, and the pass of genetic variation, two different optimization approaches based on evolutionary algorithms are developed. Both proposed designs devote to handle the disturbance and improve the computational efficiency in solving robust multi-objective optimization problems.

Zhenan He received his Ph.D. degree in electrical and computer engineering from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, USA, in 2014. Before that, he got the B.E. degree in automation from the University of Science and Technology Beijing, Beijing, China, in 2008, and M.S. degree from the Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, USA, in 2011. He is currently an Associate Professor in the College of Computer Science, Sichuan University, Chengdu, China.

His research mainly focuses on intelligent optimization using evolutionary computation algorithms, devoting to exploring effective optimization strategy for complicated optimization problems extracted from real industry applications. Beside publishing several research papers on the top academic journal, he worked as an automation engineer in a pioneer energy company in Houston, USA, developing robust multi-objective optimization strategy in solving engineering optimization problems, which characterize the most important features of Shale gas exploration process in oil and gas industry.
